When Tcontrol<Ton-off, the ferromagnetic Gd attracts the Nd magnets in the shuttle, opening a gap between receiver and shuttle and leading to a low Goff due only to parasitic conduction and radiation. The gray color on the shuttle in (B–E) is a thermal interface material used to reduce the interfacial thermal resistance.
