The mixing patterns engineered by the GraphNet precipitate drastically different experiences for cooperators and defectors. On expectation, cooperators inhabit large neighbourhoods with a mix of cooperators and defectors. In contrast, defectors experience small neighbourhoods with virtually only cooperators. The neighbourhoods here depict the median cooperator and defector counts for cooperators’ and defectors’ neighbourhoods partway through the game, on round 10.
