Differential images of the time evolution of a single nucleation event obtained by subtracting the image just before the nucleation. Each image is 20 s later than the previous one. The series shows the rapid transverse propagation of the fracture following the initial radial expansion shown in the first image. The radial (V R ) and transverse (V T ) velocities are shown by the arrows.
