Shifts necessary to register each frame across a movie by a rigid translation across x and y , predicted by CaImAn Batch (gray, ground truth), FIOLA using 100% (dark blue) and 50% (light blue) of the frame’s side, and Suite2p (dark green for subpixel shifts, light green for non-subpixel shifts). Suite2p provides only rigid motion correction with non-subpixel shift estimates; therefore, we conducted non-rigid motion correction with a single block encompassing the full FOV (Suite2p subpixel). The regions of the frame used by cropped- and uncropped-FIOLA are shown, superimposed on a single frame (see also Supplementary Fig. 2 for further comparison).
