Genes are colored according to the GC content of their home isochore (Red: high AT. Blue: high GC). Scale bars: 10 Mb. Chromosome ideograms reflect centromeres (bright red), gaps (dark red) and Giemsa bands (grays). Recombination rates are low for genes located in AT-rich isochores, except at chromosome ends, which are depleted for maternal recombination.
