Microscopy from Scientific Research

Cellohexaose molecules self-assembled on surface with a +75° tilt from the assembly propagation axis (defined as the direction to which the assembly grows). The structures were imaged by a CO-functionalized tip to reveal more structural details for every cellohexaose molecule on surface. The molecules were observed to assemble as dimers (marked by repeating red brackets).
