Biosynthetic dehydratase LanB and cyclase LanC introduce dehydrated residues and (Me)Lan rings into precursor peptides; the modified precursor peptides are transported from intracellular to extracellular by transporter LanT or cell lysis and are proteolytically removed by a LanP or other protease in the final step of maturation.
