A given human embryo model shows the potential to efficiently and faithfully produce the complete embryo in vitro as it normally forms up to a certain stage of development. This time point will be a compromise, based on local values, between a brief enough period of in vitro culture that is ethically acceptable and a sufficiently long period of in vitro culture that allows better evaluation of the model’s potential.
