Decoding accuracy as a function of distance from object, based on different subsets of cells of size n (n = 1, 5, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500). Cells were randomly selected from a total population of N = 620 cells simultaneously recorded. Data points show means over 20 random realizations; error bars show SEM. When error bars cannot be seen it is because they are too small. Stippled line indicates chance level.
