Human proteins were grouped into four categories. Known RBPs were subdivided into characterized known RBPs and uncharacterized known RBPs. Proteins that did not fall into these categories were labeled as RBP candidates if their HydRA score exceeded the threshold (with a false positive rate of 0.1), and as others otherwise.
