HO 2 signal is found throughout the spectral range as shown by the simulated HCHO absorption spectra shown in each inset with expanded resolution. Excitation above 30,300 cm -1 ( < 330 nm) produces HO 2 by PCO (green). Rotational hot bands also excite HCHO into the PCO energy region. Excitation at > 336 nm forms HO 2 radicals via PPO as shown by the clear HCHO spectral signatures (red). The upper wavelength axis is nonlinear.
