Wavelength-dependent HER mechanism for COK-47. Upon visible photoexcitation, electrons go from the ligand to the metal SBU, activating an LMCT. Upon UV photoexcitation, electrons are excited from O atoms in the SBU, making recombination processes (red dashed arrow) more likely due to the nearly located electrons and holes.
