The median, interquartile range and distribution of education polygenic scores for each category of a measure indicating the cumulation of parental investment across time: MCS. The measure of cumulative parental investment was constructed by adding up the individual indicators of investment for each developmental period, so that the lowest scores indicated consistently low investment (‘Always low’, n = 425) and the highest scores indicated consistently high investment (‘Always high’, n = 255). In between these extreme categories were categories indicating lower investment (n = 1,313), a moderate amount of investment (n = 2,594) or higher investment (n = 1,655). The point in each box boxes indicates the median, the box indicates the interquartile range around the median and the shaded area indicates the distribution of the polygenic score. The number of participants included in the analysis were as follows: n = 6,242.
