The x axis is the chromosomal position and the y axis represents the -log 10 of the corresponding P value for each location measured in the genome with a two-sided test. The dashed red line marks the threshold for genome-wide significance (P = 5 x 10 -8 ), which corrects for multiple hypothesis testing.
