The dynamic term (red), - ( u C ), where u stands for the sea-ice drift velocity vector and C is the sea-ice concentration, is compensated mostly by the residual term (blue) and shows moderate correlation with the surface wind divergence (grey). An overall decreasing tendency in the residual term exists across various combinations of sea-ice concentration and sea-ice motion products. Vectors with >90% confidence in either the zonal or meridional component trend are black.
