Violin Plot from Scientific Research

Comparison of the abundance of GalNAc genes, gatY kbaY (b), between two groups of individuals (n without = 3,866 and n with = 1,868). The violin plots show ln-transformed gene abundance with units of reads per kilobase million (RPKM). The inner box plots represent summary statistics: the centre line represents the median, the box hinges represent the lower and upper quartiles of the distribution, whiskers extend no further than 1.5x interquartile range from the hinges, and data beyond the end of the whiskers are outliers plotted as individual points. Unadjusted P values are reported, based on linear mixed models.
