Frequencies of C0, C1, C2, C3, and C4Env sequences in different HIV-1 subtypes in the LANL HIV-sequence-database-filtered web alignment. V1 hypervariable loop sequences were simulated for each subtype, 10,000 times. p values show the probability of observing at least as many C2 sequences in the simulated dataset as in the filtered web alignment.
