In the experiment using unsplit-root plants, the entire tomato root system was challenged with V. dahliae (Vd) or with V. dahliae plus inoculation with each of the three Bacillus sp. isolates (B112 + Vd, B18 + Vd, B76 + Vd). In the split-root system experiment, one part of the tomato root system was challenged with V. dahliae, while the other part was uninoculated (Vd) or inoculated with each of the three Bacillus sp. isolates (B112 + Vd, B18 + Vd, B76 + Vd).
