Detailed view of the dimer interface near EF3 of chain A (blue cartoon). Arg100 from chain C (light blue cartoon) anchors a hydrogen-bonding network involving Asp93 of chain A and two EF3 La III ligands (Glu91 and Asp85). These interactions constitute the sole polar contacts at the dimer interface, providing a means to control the radius of the lanthanide-binding site at EF3.
