A kidney sample was labelled with pan-protein staining (inverted NHS-ester (iNHS-E)) in combination with a mitochondrial marker (apoptosis-inducing factor 1 (AIF1)). Whole-tissue scanning using LED-based WF systems generates a sample overview with spatial context and molecular information at a cellular level. ExSRRF allows the subcellular identification of hallmark mitochondrial features.
