Charge separation mechanisms and computed time constants for the primary electron transfer events of the thermodynamically feasible charge separation pathways, i.e the fast and dominant ChlD1pathway and the minor, long-range SP one. Yellow areas represent primary donor excitation in each charge separation pathway, while the blue and red areas represent localization of the negative and positive charge, respectively. The hole transfer from ChlD1to the SP is assumed to occur in the time scale of a few tens of ps, as proposed experimentally.
