Probing viability/toxicity using confocal imaging and fluorescent Calcein AM (LIVE)/EthD-1 (DEAD) co-staining (EthD-1 = ethidium homodimer-1, a high-affinity nucleic acid stain) of the randomly chosen MCS from each group on Day 7. On excitation, Calcein AM emits green light in live cells, and EthD-1 emits red light in dead cells. Scale bars: 200 µm.
