Schematic of experimental outline. Endoxifen was injected intracranially into the cortex of 8- to 11-week-old GFAP-CreERT2; LSL-tdTomato; p53wt/wt (p53Gfap-wt/wt) or GFAP-CreERT2; LSL-tdTomato; p53flox/flox (p53Gfap-icKO) mice. 11 days later, lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 1 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) to induce peripheral inflammation and microglial activation. 3 days later, mice were sacrificed, and fate-mapped astrocytes (tdTomato+) were assessed by immunostaining.
