MTA time series for high reference velocities. The reference velocities (gray) correctly extracted MTA velocities of Cdc42 (cyan), Rac1 (green), and RhoA (red). MTA activities (middle rows) are represented by lines with the same colors as the velocities (top rows) and express their unique characteristics. The bottom rows represent MTA with the negative control probe (pRaichu-Pak-Rho/1110x) and shuffled activities. We divided the velocity-activity pairs, created random pairs, and applied MTA. Zero activity denotes the mean value since we standardized the activities with a mean of zero and a standard deviation of one in the data preprocessing. Light color bands represent standard error by cell-to-cell variation. We used the Mann-WhitneyUtest at 5% significance level with Bonferroni correction for multiple testing. Single, double, or triple significance means that there were one, two, or three significantly different targets, respectively. Sample-size pairs represent the numbers of cells and time series for each biosensor.
