Two different layouts were obtained for an image of resolution 150x100, targeting a fixed number of 100 rectangles, and optimized to minimize the global error bound (left), or the predicted average error (right). Optimizing for the predicted average error results in a comparatively denser rectangles partition around the central pixel of the layout.
