Band gap energies as a function of size for incrementally smaller POM-complexed CuO NCs (1, 4.3 and 13 nm in size; standard deviations in energy are +-0.1 eV). Our experimentally determined band gap energy for the 30 nm CuO NCs (no hexaniobate ligands; Figure S13) matches the reported value.33The grey curve is a fit to the reported40functional dependence of band gap energy on size (Equation S1; non-linear R2=0.996).
