Zeta potential values as a function of pH (by addition of NaOH) for 1 (red circles) and 30 nm colloidal CuO NCs (black circles). Due to the presence of negatively charged hexaniobate ligands at the surfaces of the CuO cores of 1, the zeta potential remains large and negative over the entire pH range (see Figure S1 for more details). Unprotected colloidal CuO (black circles) may be hydrolized to molecular species at pH values above 11.5.
