Superposition between substrate-free T AD AC-1.14 monomers (light and dark yellow) and ssDNA-bound TadA*8.20 monomer (protein-green, ssDNA-yellow) showing two different conformations for the T AD AC-1.14 loop between 4 and 5 (pink and magenta) compared to TadA * 8.20. This loop contains the substitution G112H, and its new conformations would make steric clashes with dT(8). K49 is near the ssDNA backbone (~4.5 A from dC(10) backbone) and may contribute to stabilizing the protein--DNA complex.
