These distributions are compared with corresponding simulated lineage dynamics in a Top End-like community, with a small population (n=1000), high transmission intensity (R0=2.1), and high population migration rate (d=0.007 per week). Rare lineages containing less than 1.5% of total infections were excluded from these simulation plots. The relative number of simulated infections is represented by the corresponding gradient in the simulated data. Lineages are arbitrary for the simulated data.
