The business-as-usual case is hydraulic fracking of shale, which results in emissions from both production and use of the natural gas. Other routes consider reducing the carbon intensity of natural gas production via several options: using DACS to capture and offset all emissions associated with conventional natural gas, using DACS and CCS to capture and offset all production and combustion emissions, respectively, using waste feedstocks and anaerobic digestion, and using captured CO2to produce SRNG via SCC or RCC.
