B. brevis grew more efficiently in Trichormus extracts by the shaking method than in conventional medium (CM) (A: macroscopic observation; B: turbidity analysis). B. brevis consumed glucose (C) and proteinogenic amino acids (D and E) in the Trichormus extracts. Data are presented as mean standard deviation (n= 3). For the statistical analysis of glucose and total amino acid concentrations, comparisons were made between (1) the amounts with and without microorganism culture and (2) each amount without microorganism culture.
