Scatter Plot from Scientific Research

Citation
Output fromMethReganalysis for the matched samples. The first table shows the triplet (CpG, TF, target gene) metadata, TF role (activator), and DNAm effect on the TF (ns). The second table shows the results from fitting robust linear model target gene expression residual DNAm group + TF + TF x DNAm group, where the DNAm group is 0 if the sample has low DNAm levels (in the lowest quartile) at the given CpG or 1 if the sample has high methylation levels (in the highest quartile), indicating non-significant DNAm x TF interaction effect (p< 0.05). Top scatterplot represents all samples are considered; there is significant association between target gene expression and TF activity (each dot represents a sample). The boxplot represents the comparison of target gene expressions between the DNAm groups and shows samples with lower DNAm have higher target gene expression. Bottom scatterplots of target gene expression vs. TF activity stratified by DNAm group (only samples in DNAm high or low groups are shown). In samples with low DNAm, TF activates target gene expression. In samples with high DNAm, target gene expression is still activated by TF in an attenuated manner. Therefore, TF is predicted to be an activator, and DNAm is predicted to attenuate the effect of TF on the target gene.
