Designed construct BA.2.12.1-5a mimics the neutralizability of later pandemic variant BA.2.75. Both contain a mutation at K147 (N in the design, E in the later variant). The impact of K147 mutations can be seen for NTD antibody S2X303, with interactions to N65, D50, and Y31 on the antibody (PDB:7SOF).
