Spatial smoothness after training was quantified for all models as 1/(average cosine similarity between the weights of neighbouring units). Unit weights are significantly smoother in All-TNNs than in control models, and this effect increases with the parameter that scales the smoothness loss (the 95% CIs are too small to see; the values are reported in the main text).
