Meta-analyzed SMDs of the associations between alpha-diversity (Shannon diversity (upper) and SGB richness (lower)) and all paired comparisons. The 95% CIs for each meta-analysis model are indicated by a horizontal line. P values were computed via two-tailed t-test. Significant associations (P < 0.05) are indicated by a light blue diamond. SMD values corrected for age, sex and BMI ( Methods ) are indicated by a star (blue when P < 0.05). No correction for multiple hypothesis testing was performed.
