PpgB-encoding gene architecture as mapped by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) analysis to detect 5' and 3' untranslated regions as well as intronic sequences. Positions of the prevalent and alternative transcriptional start sites are indicated with respect to the translational start codon, while transcription terminates 482 nt downstream of the translational stop codon. The PpgB-encoding region spans 140 nt, comprising two exons of 43 and 32 nt that are separated by an intron of 65 nt in length.
