NIR fluorescent QD dye encapsulated in PMMA microparticles (black component of the needle tip) is co-loaded with mRNA encapsulated in LNPs (light blue component of the needle tip) into microneedles that are held intact by a dissolvable polymer backing. Upon MNP application, dye microparticles are deposited into the dermis layer in a predefined pattern that encodes medical information, while mRNA-LNPs are uptaken by immune cells, inducing immunogenicity. NIR patterns are imaged and processed for medical information retrieval on a screen.
