Tissue mimetic structures consist of relatively homogeneous compartments that range in size between 20 and 50 m in diameter and span many millimeters in lateral size. Examples at three different locations and magnifications are shown. Red indicates lipid analog fluorescence. Arrow highlights compartment boundaries as discussed in the main text. The letter W indicates the water phase.
