Thin-film-based microelectrode arrays with reversible shape change for neural recording and removal. i) Structure of the thin-film device, composed of conducting polymer-based electrochemical actuators and electrophysiology electrodes. ii) Demonstration of the device wrapping around a 1.4 mm nerve phantom in PBS. iii) In vivo validation on a rat sciatic nerve, showing the cuff electrode forming a helical wrap by switching the voltage from -0.5 to 0 V. iv) Recorded signal from the sciatic nerve during hindpaw pressing.
