Immunofluorescence of centromeres (ACA) and chromosomes (DAPI) during anaphase. Cells 1 and 2 showed normal anaphase. In cells 3-8, lagging chromosomes were found; they were individually discernible (cells 3-6) and indiscernible (cells 7 and 8) due to their relatively low and high number, respectively. The cartoons above summarize these chromosome segregation defects. Zoomed insets (right) show examples of a single chromatid, a chromosome pair, and a chromosome bridge (defined fully inSTAR Methods), corresponding to i-iv within the orange frame. Scale bars, 5 m.
