To assess chromosome folding, the distance between fluorescent dots (tetO and lacO) was measured for non-resolved (a), partially resolved (b and c), and resolved/folded (d and e) configurations. Measurements of f and g were excluded on the basis that tetO (red dot) and lacO (green dot) on the same chromatid should usually be found closer.
