In a previous targeted bisulfite sequencing dataset of patients with confirmed NPC, hypermethylated CpG sites (defined as methylation density greater than 70%, n= 6,617) and hypomethylated CpG sites (defined as methylation density less than 30%, n= 347) were identified. Each dot represents the CGN/NCG motif ratio for an individual NPC sample at the hypermethylated or hypomethylated CpG sites in the bisulfite sequencing dataset. The CGN/NCG motif ratios of plasma EBV DNA at hypermethylated CpG sites were significantly higher than the motif ratios at hypomethylated CpG sites.
