Liquid chromatogram of Marfey’s derivative free amino acids obtained after hydrolysis of purified GL8Pb. The derivatization of amino acids with a L-fluoro dinitrophenyl alaninamide (L-FDAA) produces either L- or D-amino acid/L-FDAA derivatives, which can be separated using a reverse phase HPLC column 69 , 70 . Comparison with amino acid standards shows that allo -threonine, leucine, and phenylalanine are D-amino acids.
