The angular difference between the location sweep and the direction sweep increases with the strength of firing rate adaptation in grid cells (while the adaptation strength in head-direction cells is fixed), with three examples shown on the right. Green/pink color represents larger/smaller sweep angle in internal location than that in internal direction. Note that the angular difference is always positive, meaning that the location sweep angle is larger than the direction sweep angle.
