The frequency of extracellular enzymes is comparably high among the monomers of hydrolases (EC = 3) and lyases (EC = 4), both in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In absolute terms, however, extracellular hydrolases are much more abundant in the PDB: in total, there are 1521 hydrolase clusters in the dataset, while only 530 lyase clusters and the frequency of monomers is also much lower in lyases.
