Illustration of the paramutation crossing scheme for acquisition of a repressed epigenetic state by a naive Fab2L allele from an established epiallele intrans. The presence of ablack[1]marker linked to Fab2L allows for the identification of F2 individuals carrying two copies of the transgene from the naive parent (gray chromosomes) rather than from the epiline parent (blue chromosomes).
