The dashed and dotted lines are guides to the eye for the variances extracted by Gaussian fit (triangles) and state reconstruction (dots), respectively. These two methods agree for short times of t S < 7 us, where the state is close to Gaussian. We extract the squeezing rate epsilon by fitting the evolution of V min with a decaying exponential model (see the main text), indicated by the blue solid line. Errors on V min and V max are 95% confidence intervals of the two-dimensional Gaussian fit.
