Dynamic ESTEM-HAADF images of practical Pt/C catalysts from the same area, imaged during reaction in H2at operating temperatures. Two areas are shown: area 1 (at the top): a) 350 °C for 1 h (at left) and b) 600 °C for 1 h (right); and from area 2 at bottom: c,d) 350 °C for 1 h and 600 °C for 1 h. Single atoms are clearly visible at the high temperature of 600 °C. At the higher temperatures some smaller particles are diminished or lost altogether, and adjacent larger ones to grow or be reformed.
