D1-cre mice were injected in CnF or PPN with an adeno-associated virus encoding for channelrhodopsin in a cre-dependent manner (seeSTAR Methods) and implanted with an optic fiber ~500 m above the injection site (same mice as inFigure 2, seeFigure S2).
