A cell in a stable state is subjected to a change in environment (movement and color change of light blue box from t0to t1), which then causes changes in the three other vertices. The nature of the relationships between the vertices mutually reinforces them to remain in the stable holistic cell state (return to the blue tetrahedron by t3).
